About Wilson Recipes – Recipes Adapted to Wilson’s Disease

Recettes Wilson was founded with a very personal mission: to help people with Wilson's disease better manage their diet and improve their quality of life through recipes adapted to their condition. This project was born from the journey of Mégane Imbert, a patient with this rare genetic disease, who decided to share her experience to simplify the lives of other patients and their families. Mégane Imbert's journey It all started several years ago, when Mégane Imbert was diagnosed with Wilson's disease at the age of 20. This disease, although rare, has significant consequences on the metabolism of copper in the body, leading to its accumulation in the organs, particularly in the liver and brain. The symptoms of this accumulation can be serious, ranging from neurological disorders to organ failure. Mégane remembers the shock and frustration she felt when she learned of her diagnosis. Information about the disease was limited and medical recommendations, although useful, were often difficult to apply on a daily basis. One of the biggest challenges she faced was having to follow a strictly low-copper diet, without knowing how to adapt her meals while remaining healthy and balanced. The Genesis of Recettes Wilson Aware of the lack of practical resources for people living with Wilson's disease, Mégane decided to take matters into her own hands. Drawing on her knowledge of nutrition and cooking, she began experimenting with recipes adapted to her diet, excluding all foods rich in copper, while seeking to preserve the pleasure of eating. Over the months, she began to write down her recipes, share them with family and friends also affected by the disease, and see the benefits of an adapted diet on her general well-being. This motivated her to create Recettes Wilson, a site dedicated to sharing practical food solutions for all those faced with this pathology. In addition to recipes, Mégane also wanted to create a support space, a place where patients, families and caregivers can share their experiences, find advice and be inspired by the stories of others living with Wilson disease. The Evolution of Recettes Wilson This project, which started modestly, quickly grew. Recettes Wilson has become much more than just a recipe site; it has become a reference source for patients and caregivers. The site now offers a wide range of adapted recipes, from main dishes to desserts, while offering practical advice on eating healthy without copper. Today, Recettes Wilson is an active community where patients can exchange, support each other and find solutions adapted to their lifestyle. Mégane continues to develop the site by adding new recipes, publishing inspiring stories and collaborating with health experts to provide reliable and up-to-date information on Wilson disease. Long-term goal The ultimate goal of Recettes Wilson is to provide comprehensive resources accessible to all those living with Wilson's disease, by creating a space for sharing and mutual support. Mégane and her team are determined to continue improving the site and providing innovative recipes, practical advice and medical information to help patients lead healthy and fulfilling lives despite the disease. At the same time, Recettes Wilson is committed to supporting medical research on Wilson's disease, by donating a portion of the profits to research institutions and associations working to raise awareness and prevent this rare disease.
